Vaporetto Venetian Bar & Eatery

Our Story

Established in 2014 Vaporetto has grown to become an Italian institution

The vision for Vaporetto was inspired by many trips to this beautiful part of the world and wanting to create something that embodies old school hospitality filled with warmth, generosity and charm. We were particularly drawn to Venice for the art, culture, romance, mystery, and the rich, fascinating history associated with controlling the spice trail for centuries. Our chefs get to play with the likes of cinnamon, cardamon, saffron, turmeric, nutmeg, the list goes on. Venetian food is like Italian food without rules! And let’s face it, who doesn’t love Venice?

Vaporetto's Owners

3 passionate Italians Omar, Giacomo and Donatello, owners of Italian institutions Cosi Bar Ristorante since 1996 and Cucinetta Melbourne est. 2013 (South Yarra), are at the helm of the Venetian Bar & Eatery that has been welcoming amnd spoiling the Hawthorn community for the past 10 years.

"We always wanted to be involved in the food and wine industry. Flavours and food were always an interest of ours, especially understanding how they brought friends and family together to celebrate not only the special occasions, but everyday life.
Being able to pursue a career that brings people together has been a blessing! It is not just about the food; it's the whole experience that counts. People won’t remember what they ate but they will remember how you made them feel."

How do you do that?
It is simple - we just stick to the basics
1. Great Food
2. Great Service
3. Great Hospitality

We look forward to welcoming you to our little slice of Venice in the heart of Hawthorn.
