‘The perfect day, the Venetian way’ - Greg Feck, Owner/Chef
Crack of dawn, wake up call. Stroll through the labyrinth, the untying of gondola’s awaiting the swarm of lovebirds, make your way to ‘Rosa Salva’ in San Marco for espresso and a sweet fritole..... Now head for St. Mark’s Square and plonk yourself down at ‘Caffe Florian’, the oldest café in the world (1720) for people watching and a radicchio & egg Tramezzini.
For lunch is has to be ‘Al Gatto Nero’ on the island of Burano. The saffron Pappardelle with scampi is to die for; don’t forget to say hi to Ruggero for me please. Then jump on a Vaporetto and make your way to Hotel Danieli for a Spritz before walking to ‘Al Bottegon’ in Dorsoduro for Chiccetti in the late afternoon.
Last stop in the evening, ‘CoVino’ in Castello for a bowl of superbly, hand-crafted Tortellini, paired with a crisp glass of Soave, a dollop of silken Tiramisu and a slosh of Grappa - That my friends, is my perfect day, the Venetian way.
